“Every moment the patches of green grew bigger, and the patches of snow grew smaller. Every moment, more and more trees shook off their robes of snow. Soon, wherever you looked, instead of white shapes, you saw the dark green of firs or the black, prickly branches of bare oaks, beeches, and elms.” – C.S. Lewis, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

In C.S. Lewis’ book series The Narnia Chronicles, the fictional world of Narnia lies under a spell. An evil witch has cast an eternal winter upon it. Only after the fierce lion Aslan (a Christ-like figure in the story) sacrifices himself and defeats her does the power of the curse finally break, allowing winter to retreat.

Now, this is winter in North Korea. Walking through its frozen landscapes, one might be reminded of Narnia’s endless winter. And winter in North Korea is bitterly cold—not just because of the weather.

The regime continues to elevate the glorification of its current leader, Kim Jong-Un, while gradually shifting focus away from his father and grandfather, the original architects of North Korea’s Communist rule.

Meanwhile, over one hundred thousand people remain trapped in the country’s prison system. Political executions persist, and the Bible remains a forbidden book. It is likely no other nation has as many Bibles buried or hidden away as North Korea.

Because of the ever-present danger, Christian parents often cannot share the Gospel with their own children—it is simply too risky.

What do North Korean Christians pray for? The same as the Narnians in Lewis’ fantasy novel: that God will fulfill His promises and bring forth the spring. Will you join them in prayer?

please pray
  • Pray for the citizens in North Korea to endure the winter season and be provided with food, clothes, and other necessities.
  • Pray that the government cares for the citizens, not only taking care of the idols.
  • Pray that the secret believers are strengthened in faith until they finish the race.
please give
  • Every HK$210 means an isolated believer could hear God speak through a regular radio broadcast.
  • Every HK$440 provides a food package to a North Korean believer to keep them alive.
  • Every HK$670 trains a Christian to withstand persecution in one of the world’s darkest places.
*Any excess funds will be used to strengthen other persecuted Christians where urgent help is needed.
