Dawud's* journey was one of courage and hidden faith. He found the truth and clung to it in a land where following Christ can mean isolation. He came to faith in a neighbouring Arabian Peninsula country, and as he devoured the Word, his love for Jesus
only grew as he went back to his home country. He longed for an Arab church where believers like him could worship freely. His wife and daughter-in-law followed him into the light, were baptised, and became part of this secret family of faith.
May a great harvest of faith rise from this hidden church, and may no darkness keep it silent.
But many in his family never knew. Not even his sons.
Then, few days ago, Dawud suffered a sudden stroke and passed away in the hospital. Now, his funeral will follow Islamic traditions, such as being buried on his right-side facing Mecca, with words spoken over him that do not reflect the faith he held
in secret. The few Christians who knew him would sit in silence, watching, unable to speak the truth about his life.
Yet, his story is not over. Let’s cry out to the Lord!
Pray that the few known Arab believers in this city do not lose heart. May they find strength in the Lord, knowing they are not alone, even when their faith is unseen. May Dawud’s life and quiet boldness inspire them to persevere.
Pray for Dawud’s wife and daughter-in-law, who must now grieve silently.Pray that the truth of Dawud’s faith would one day be revealed to his sons and extended family. May his legacy of faith not be buried with
him but become a seed that grows in their hearts.
Pray that Dawud’s longing for an Arab church would not die with him. May God raise up a new leader, a bold voice to shepherd the believers who remain. May a great harvest of faith rise from this hidden church, and may no darkness keep
it silent.
